A Christmas Meditation

This simple and gentle meditation offers an easy way to reconnect with yourself during the busy festive season. Sit somewhere warm and quiet, place your hand on your heart, and feel yourself fall into that place of safety…

Light a candle, and allow your gaze to soften

Place one hand on your heart, one on your belly

Breathe – a long inhale, and a longer exhale

Slow down, soften

Feel the earth holding you

Christmas is here, and so are you

Breathe, soften, slow

With your eyes closed, put down all the weight you carry this season

With each breath let it go, and just welcome whatever you are feeling right now – anxious, tired, uncertain, excited, distracted

Know that this is exactly where you are meant to be

Be kind, be slow, be soft

Christmas is here, and it is ok

Breathe into the heart space, breathe into your belly

Imagine the hug of winter around you

A soft, thick blanket, big enough to wrap yourself in

Pull it around your head and neck, warm and soft, your shoulders and back

Wrap it around your arms, belly and hips

Tuck it tightly across your legs and feet

Feel its warmth flowing into your body

Christmas here, and it’s ok to stop for a moment

Let the winter’s nurturing warmth into your body

Let yourself soften, you are safe here, your heart is safe here

This is a space to release the pressure of Christmas that builds up in our bodies

Which often has nowhere to go.

This is your space. Here you are supported, nourished, safe.

Here sink down, into a place of safety

Christmas is here, but the world is quiet just now

This is safe nourishing space, that can hold all of your experiences, all of your stories

There is nothing to do right now, nothing to finish, nothing to prepare

You are enough, just here in this moment

Pull that warm winter blanket closer around you

Feel the flow of its warmth through your body

Feel those tight or tense places, and let the warmth soften them

In the winter, the balance of dark and light flows around us

At Christmas, there is love and joy and warmth all around us

It’s ok to be still and quiet, it’s ok to be noisy and joyful

Christmas is here, and it can be whatever you need it to be

The time of giving and receiving

Give with a generous heart; receive with a grateful heart.

There is space here for laughter, and for tears

There is space for you

There is space for you

This is a space for you

This is a space for you

Know that you can always drop into this safe space

Just light the flame, soften, listen to your heart, connect with your belly

Feel the warmth around you

Christmas is here, and you are safe, you are connected
