A solution to

the Great Cleaving

A moment we all recall

each in our own way.

Fields empty in winter and bruised skies

give us pause,

each in our own way.

Gratitude for grass and birds

and the way light breaks

each in our own way.

How we bring ourselves to healing

by licking the tears of our enemies

children

each in our own way.

And finally the footprints left

that ache

we give to God

each in our own way.
