Here at Clifton Psychotherapy, we have over 50 years of combined experience at working within various client-focused roles.

We have previously worked with many well-known organisations such as: Mind, Macmillan, Cruse Bereavement, Bristol University, Weston College, Reading College, Lewes College, The Ambulance Staff Charity, Victim Support and Public Health England. We have also worked locally with charities such as The Southmead Project, Bluebell Care and Bristol Community Health in the South West. As well as New Pathways & Safer Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales. We also work with mental health teams, take doctors' referrals, and liaise with the clinical teams at both Southmead and St Michaels Hospitals in Bristol. We help people within the workplace via many of the country's leading Employment Assistance Programs; and we also take referrals from other health professionals, colleges and universities as well as private self-referrals.

Individually we have received specialist training in many key areas, and when we put this together we find that we are a remarkably effective team with a passion and drive to deliver bespoke, individually tailored therapy to suit our clients' unique personal circumstances. We are both members of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), as well as The National Counselling Society (NCS).

Tracy works a lot around complex trauma mostly with post and perinatal issues including birth trauma. She also works a lot with sexuality, LGBTQ issues, and life-limiting conditions such as HIV and Cancer. She believes in a holistic approach, and takes a broad view when looking at the clients' history and the full spectrum of their journey so far.

Simon is actively engaged in finding better ways of working with suicide and self-harm than those currently in place. He also helps clients to identify aspects of their past where they may have become stuck; causing distress, and preventing them from living their lives to the full. We both have extensive experience of working with abuse; sexual, physical and psychological. And we offer our clients the time, space and most importantly; the safety to explore these events and regain control in their lives.

As well as counselling and psychotherapy; Simon is able to provide clinical supervision for counsellors, psychotherapists and coaches (including students). Tracy is able to provide reflective space and supervision to a wide range of professionals and groups working within other helping roles.

Tracy also has a background in lecturing and facilitating support groups, whilst Simon has experience in coaching, delivering presentations and training courses. Together we are able to provide enjoyable, informative and in-depth training on topics such as: resilience, motivation and emotional stability, anger management techniques; and for therapists we run events on setting up and running professional practices, whilst all the while promoting psycho-education and the development of strong emotional wellbeing. Although trained at different locations and in different therapeutic approaches; through our on-going training, personal development and research, we would both describe ourselves as integrative therapists with an emphasis on the relational aspect.
