Insomnia therapy helps to bring about changes which result in deep and restful sleep. This way of working is holistic and tailored to the individual. It incorporates the findings of modern sleep science with the practice of restorative yoga, which is effortless and deeply relaxing.
Sleeplessness usually indicates that some aspect of life is seeking to be rebalanced. During a session there is a dialogue between the practitioner and the client to try and mutually understand if any changes in lifestyle could be initiated to enable greater well being. What is common in most people who suffer from insomnia is that the nervous system is stressed or anxious. Calming the nervous system is the key to sleep. Being aware of our own breathing patterns is very helpful, as is working positively with the thought processes that have become fearful around sleep. This is combined with suggestions regarding night time habits, diet and exercise that have shown themselves conducive to good sleep. Through these sessions, in collaboration with you, I aim to design initiatives to support you in daily life, as well as encouraging deep repose during sessions.
Insomnia therapy would usually starts with a 90 minute initial consultation followed by another five 60 minute sessions.
