Dr Bryany Duggan is a Clinical Psychologist and specialist in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in Bath.
I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years experience working with individuals who are struggling with psychological, emotional or behavioural difficulties. I specialise in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy and mindfulness-based approaches.
I have extensive experience working within the NHS with chronic physical and mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, CFS/ME, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, IBS, post-cancer issues and post-illness adjustment difficulties. Additional specific areas of expertise and interest include stress management, addiction-related difficulties, bereavement, trauma, anger-related issues, shame and self-criticism. Alongside my clinical practice I have had a lengthy research career, publishing in areas such as mindfulness, chronic pain and alcohol issues (search for Bryany Cusens).
I have a particular interest in using psychological strategies to enable individuals to connect with what is truly meaningful in their lives, working with the emotional and psychological barriers that may impede this. These approaches can be valuable to anyone struggling with disabling levels of anxiety and depression, or simply feeling lost and disconnected. Some people make significant and sustainable changes within just six sessions, others value longer-term work.
I am very happy to discuss your needs in a preliminary telephone call (usually lasting around 20 minutes) to help you decide whether to book an initial meeting. During our first meeting, we will begin to develop a shared understanding of your situation, discuss the therapeutic approach, and consider whether we could work together effectively towards agreed treatment goals. Throughout our work, I will make a commitment to create an authentic, compassionate, and respectful context in which to explore your difficulties and facilitate meaningful change.
All sessions are £90 and last for 60 minutes. Session prices reflect the level of training and experience attained. Additional to the clinical contact hour, this price also accounts for pre-session preparation, post-session reflection (including supervision) and continuing professional development (e.g. training and conference attendance). Clinical letters (upon request, if required) are also included.
