Hi, my name is Liam and I am a fully qualified talking therapist (another word for counsellor), and a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).
I have experience of working with a variety of emotional or mental health difficulties such as; anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-harm, abuse/trauma, addiction, relationship breakdown and more.
I have over 7 years’ experience working in the charitable sector for Off The Record (Bristol), a charity based in Bristol offering support to young people aged 11-25. During this time I gained vast experience of supporting young people with various mental health difficulties.
I also have 2 years’ experience working as a counsellor for another Bristol based charity called The Harbour which offers support to anyone 18+ affected by life threatening illness. This work was primarily focused on experiencing and accepting loss and grief.
I now work in the private mental health sector for an organisation called Care First who offer counselling support as part of an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). My role is as their Clinical Lead meaning I head up, as part of a Clinical Management Team, the team of Telephone Counsellors overseeing and supporting their clinical work. I also offer telephone counselling as part of this role.
My own approach to therapy focuses heavily on the ability of our therapeutic relationship to facilitate change and healing for you. Looking at and exploring our own stories, our history, our ‘past experiences’, especially those stories that are painful and difficult to remember, can often seem impossible. In our sessions, I will offer you a safe space to do this so you can free yourself from those past experiences, and live more fully now!
