After a teaching and research career as a psychologist at university I have found, for me, a better and more meaningful way to connect with others, as a person-centered psychotherapeutic counsellor, and before that, as a person-centered mental health practitioner. This offers me a way to connect to the person-as-a-whole in a warm, empathic and non-judgmental way.
I am respectful and receptive to the uniqueness each person brings. Central for me is the quality to the relationship we develop in our sessions through which we forge our distinctive way of working and which allows me to fully hear you, and for us to explore what life is like for you, as well as what you need from me in order to move forward.
Focal to the way I work is the belief that no matter what difficulties our lives have brought us the availability of choice and thereby a potential for change or acceptance, however challenging, remains within us. The counselling I offer is aimed at helping you clarify and add new meaning by helping you to describe and explore, rather than for me to analyse, treat or 'cure' what is troubling you. In my practice I offer a pragmatic, experiential approach that favors emotional depth, embodiment, clarity, and directness. I see my counselling work as helping you discover more about who you are in relation to both yourself and others. I offer sessions on a short, medium- or long-term basis.
In order to see if we are the right fit for you, I offer a half-price (£25) first session.
