I am a Psychotherapist and Counsellor, trained in the relational approach who works in an integrative way, using a range of humanistic models enabling me to focus on the individual needs of clients and couples. I aim to create a therapeutic alliance based on equality and trust, enabling clients to feel respected and safe. This helps to facilitate psychological growth and provides a platform on which clients can work towards making positive changes in their lives. I have many years of experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, self-harm, obsessive behaviours, post traumatic stress, bereavement, sexual abuse and relationship difficulties. I am a couples therapist and over the years I have developed a model to help couples to communicate better, to enhance emotional connection and security within their relationship. Couples therapy is an important part of the work I do and something I feel passionate about. We all deserve the opportunity to learn how to grow within our relationships and be able to create a safe and intimate bond with our partners. I welcome couples from all types of backgrounds and have considerable experience supporting same sex couples and people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
I also have a specialism working with neurodivergent clients. I have my own personal family experience of Autism and ADHD together with many years of offering professional support to people who may require a more flexible therapeutic approach. Offering a range of alternatives to those who may not feel comfortable with traditional counselling practices. This enables me to consider sensory needs and explore the best ways of working to allow people to access counselling support.
In addition to my counselling I offer a range of courses to support people whose lives are affected by Autism and ADHD. These courses support individuals, partners and parents to gain a deeper understanding and develop strategies to help them to maintain good mental health and happiness within their work and personal relationships. I am a clinical supervisor and run regular supervision groups and training for therapists who work with neurodivergent clients and wish to learn ways in which to offer this client group the best type of support. If you are interested in finding out more about what I do, please email me and we can arrange to have a phone chat or speak over Zoom prior to arranging a session.
