I work as a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Bristol, Stroud and Cheltenham. I work with individuals and couples. Here is my website where you will find further information on working with me www.natashabyrne.com.
Counselling and Psychotherapy can be a great resource for you to use to work through the difficulties or blocks you are having in your life that hold you back from reaching greater fulfillment. What we discuss is largely up to you. I will work with whatever feels important for you to bring. Common issues that can be worked through in counselling and psychotherapy include anxiety, relationship problems, family issues, loneliness, marital issues (separation/affairs), eating disorders, loss, depression, sexuality, painful past memories or difficult childhood.
Sometimes you might feel a lack of direction in life, a stuck-ness, or a feeling of not meeting one’s true potential. My role is to assist you through this in a way which enables you to rediscover inner resources and guidance, supporting you to reconnect with yourself, encouraging you to grow into more of your innate aliveness and well-being. You will determine the pace and the depth at which you share. At times, I will be interested in how you are feeling and what emotions are coming up whilst you speak. Often, but not always, it can feel important to discuss childhood experiences. Our exploration might also be about encouraging you to find the necessary tools to deal with life’s challenges.
Frequently clients come for therapy because they are having relationship issues (anger, affairs, difficulty with sexuality, commitment issues, feeling disconnected from one’s partner). Having people close to us can be a huge contributor to our sense of well-being: when our primary relationship isn’t always as we hope it can have a deep impact on us. Having a therapist to work with either in individuals or couples counselling can be a huge support in creating a safe container to hold what you are struggling with and to offer fresh perspectives on how to move forward.
I always endeavour to practice in a way that is diversity-affirmative, meaning that I will respect your own unique life choices and situations (pertaining to issues around sexuality and sexual preference, political/spiritual/religious beliefs, gender identification, ethnic background, socio-economic status etc).
I’ve a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP accredited course) and further training in Relational Couples Therapy. I am currently studying on the foundation year of a Diploma in Process-oriented Psychology.
