Shiatsu is as effective for weary bodies, hearts and heads as it is for busy ones. I hope my shiatsu will help you to take a breath and support you to feel more fully the changing quality of the space you hold in the world.
I believe the more aware of this you are, the more fully you will know, and feel, the implications of how you choose to move with life and the changes you face. This may mean choosing to rest, or to let go. It may mean feeling where you have the energy to galvanise. It may mean choosing to wait and see.
In a typical shiatsu session, you will experience me applying pressure to your body via my palms, fingers and thumbs, alongside movements such as stretches and joint mobilisations. Throughout the shiatsu session, I will listen and respond to your body and work at an intensity that is suitable for you. This might vary from anywhere between still and light, through to strong or deep pressure.
I always aim to create a welcoming and supportive environment in which you feel safe and clear about how I intend to help. For people who are interested in looking more deeply at their health and wellbeing from a shiatsu perspective, I offer blocks of treatment which include an initial consultation, shiatsu sessions, a full treatment report and feedback session. One-off sessions are also very welcome - I encourage you to have had shiatsu with me at least once previously, before committing to a longer block.
Having previously spent a year living in Japan, where shiatsu originates, practising the martial art of aikido, I now practice Chen style tai chi. Both of these practices have fed and broadened my appreciation of shiatsu and serve as a part of my ongoing professional development.
