Hakomi is a spiritually based, body-centered Psychotherapy. The word ‘Hakomi’ is a Hopi Indian word meaning ‘who am I?’ or, more directly, “where do I stand in relation to the many realms”.
Hakomi works on many levels both as a talking and body centred therapy, a deep relaxing inner experience, allowing the unfolding of what is seeking energetically to occur, honouring our timing and journey of development. We are each ‘a work in progress’.
When appropriate, I do hands-on work using techniques that release trapped energy and memories in the body, discovering missing experiences and exploring our relationship with nourishment. I hold the understanding that we all know how to heal, given the right support and environment.
Through developing curiosity we come to recognize aspects of the self that are not ‘caught up’ in the drama of our lives, and cultivate a loving presence for those emotional responses that are less able to cope.
“It is not our Soul that is on a Spiritual Journey, our Soul already holds all the wisdom and connection to love that we are seeking. It is our mind, body and emotions that are learning and evolving on a journey. Through deepening our sensitivity and compassion for ourselves we are able to transform our life experience and our relationships.” Shula

“Shula has the gift of focussing and being fully present. She’s a good listener and gave me an insight into my problem that transformed the way I was thinking about it and lifted it from a lifetime curse to a blessing.
Shula has the ability to attune to her clients’ needs and respond appropriately to the person and the situation.
I was suffering from back pain – Shula worked on the emotional basis of that pain and did some energy work. The pain disappeared.
I feel safe with her and would recommend her to people who are open to a spiritually based type of therapy.”
“With the help of Shula’s compassionate and accepting presence, I have been able to feel safe enough to open up to different parts of myself that needed healing.
I feel trust in her ability to hold the space for me and to provide an unconditionally loving space for whatever needs to come to light.”
