Alex Griffin

I offer a space to embark on your healing path that is warm, supportive, and compassionate. My approach is explorative rather than directive: we will work with what you choose to bring on the day of the session. Typically, we begin in the here-and-now and, over time, explore how your story has shaped your inner world, your relationships, and your relationship with yourself. You will be invited to talk things through at your own pace. And I in turn will share my reflections, support you to feel through, as well as think through, the issues you’re bringing and, when appropriate, offer gentle challenges.

With over a decade of practice and training in yoga and meditation, I pay careful attention to the connection between mind and body. At times, I may suggest that we work with certain somatic or mindful tools to support the therapeutic process. ~ I’m interested in how Western psychotherapy and Eastern wisdom traditions can helpfully dovetail. My work integrates approaches such as IFS and Jungian depth psychology with mindful self-compassion practices. In session, I’m able to offer guided meditations, grounding techniques, and simple mindful tools. The purpose of this is to create enough inner breathing room to notice and work with what arises for you. As a member of the queer community, my work is inclusive, affirmative, and seeks to empower you to navigate the turbulence of life. I want this to be a time each week when you can show up as your full self and talk about anything.

Fears, desires, anxieties, your relationship with your body — the depth and breadth of experience are all welcome here. During life outside the therapy room, I write and publish poetry. This creative process often proves cathartic and energising. If you wish to bring your own creativity into the space, we can use it as a way to explore those parts of yourself that might defy description but wish to be expressed.
