APPROACH
I am a UKCP-accredited psychotherapist. My orientation is existential-phenomenological and I was also trained integratively (my definitions below). My way of working is informed by philosophy and my approach is hopeful, driven by a belief in our capacity for change.
DEFINITIONS
‘Existential’ = relating to how we exist in the world: how we find meaning, make choices, face uncertainty and approach freedom, mortality and responsibility. ‘Phenomenology’ = the study of experience: paying attention to how you experience things, rather than labelling or diagnosing. ‘Integrative’ = draws on various approaches: psychodynamic, person-centred, existential depending on what feels helpful for each person.
EXPERIENCE
My principle experience is with women, young people, people from a refugee and migrant background and LGBTQ+ people. I warmly welcome male clients to my practice. I run an anti-discriminatory practice and welcome people of all races, gender identities, sexual orientations and backgrounds. In our work, we will explore what it means to be you and how it is for you specifically to exist in the world, in your relationships and with the challenges you face. Together, we will take the time to look at and understand your lived experience to reveal something new.
