Flora Dyson
Hi, I’m Flora — an accredited Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
I work with adults from all walks of life, offering a compassionate and reflective space for exploration and growth. My areas of special interest include bereavement and loss (including pregnancy loss, stillbirth, neonatal or infant death), parenthood and family dynamics, uprooting and relocation, and life transitions. I understand that life can sometimes feel deeply lonely. No one experiences the world in quite the same way, and when our pain is unseen or misunderstood, that loneliness can grow heavier.
In therapy, I seek to understand your experiences as they truly feel to you — to come alongside you in your story. Together, we can ease the pain of loneliness, make sense of what has shaped your patterns of feeling, acting, and relating, and explore the possibility of change and growth in a way that feels authentic to you. I believe we each hold an inner wisdom that guides our lives.
Yet, over time, it’s easy to lose touch with that wisdom as we adapt to meet the expectations of others. In our sessions, we’ll create a space where those external pressures can be set aside — a space just for you. Here, you can begin to untangle what feels complex, unmask what’s been hidden, and gently reconnect with the parts of yourself that long to live in their true colours. As an integrative therapist, I draw from a range of counselling and psychotherapy approaches to meet each client’s unique needs.
Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process — every person is different, and so is the way we work together. Some clients may find it helpful to move around the room, draw, write, or use miniatures to express their experiences. Others may simply want to talk and reflect. All forms of expression are welcome, and all can be equally meaningful and effective. In our sessions, you may encounter elements from various modalities, including Person-Centred Therapy, Existential Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment-Based Therapy, Transactional Analysis, and Creative Therapy.
The integration of these approaches allows our work to evolve organically around your needs and experiences. Therapy with me is a collaborative process. At a pace that feels right for you, you’ll be seen, understood, and supported to explore your experiences while experimenting with new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating. Together, we’ll explore what healing and growth might look like for you — not as an abstract ideal, but as something real, embodied, and personal. As Brené Brown beautifully said, “When we deny our stories, they define us.
When we own our stories, we get to write the ending.” My hope is that through our work, you’ll find both the courage and the compassion to own your story — and, in doing so, begin to write the next chapter of your life with greater understanding and self-kindness.
