Hayley MacGregor
I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health Care Professionals Council.
As a Clinical Psychologist, my job is to listen with compassion to your life story and help you make sense of any troubles or trauma that you are facing within your life, whether that be in your present or reoccurring from your past.
I will strive to support you to feel comfortable during therapy, by creating a safe and supportive environment where you can work at your own pace and be heard without judgement.
Psychological therapy will be tailored to suit your strengths, needs, and goals. I can help you to create an ‘emotional toolkit’ to reduce the impact of painful thoughts and feelings and support you to live a values-based meaningful life. The toolkit could include skills such as identifying patterns in the way you think, feel or behave; emotional regulation and distress tolerance; mindfulness, and improving interpersonal relationships.
My background includes work in trauma services and CAMHS neurodevelopmental diagnostic teams. In private practice, I specialise in the interplay between autism, ADHD, psychological wellbeing, and trauma. My neuroscience training complements my use of evidence-based interventions.
I work with adolescents and adults to build self-understanding and self-acceptance. Most of my clients are autistic and/or have ADHD. I use a neuro-affirming, attachment- and trauma-informed approach, integrating ACT and DBT skills for coping and regulation, and EMDR for trauma.
I offer individual therapy and group work, including a post-diagnostic support group for Autistic people and those with ADHD, co-facilitated with a specialist Occupational Therapist. I also run a psychoeducational ACT and DBT skills group co-facilitated with a Clinical Psychologist. Please contact me for further information.
Starting therapy takes courage and it may feel daunting given that talking openly about your distress may evoke feelings of vulnerability. The therapeutic relationship is often the vehicle for positive change so finding the right ‘fit’ is important. Therefore, I offer a free initial 15 minute phone/video call to see whether I am the right fit for you.
Online and/or telephone appointments are available.
