Jane Hickey
Our gut is the home of our wellbeing. Nourishing our gut with real food is the way to nourish our wellness. We all depend on our nutrition, and even more so when our health is challenged.
When we are mindful that nutrition goes beyond our food choices, then we can really benefit from the nutrients in our food.
I work with clients who want to make food and lifestyle changes to restore their gut health. Maybe you have been struggling to self-manage your symptoms. Maybe you are looking for something different because what you’ve tried hasn’t worked. But you can no longer dismiss the symptoms which keep popping up and ruining your day.
I am a nutritional therapist, which differs from a dietician, because I create a personalised programme for you. Listening to your whole story, I use a functional medicine approach to explore the root causes of your symptoms.
Your body is a complex network of interacting systems. Your emotions have an effect on your gut and your gut has an effect on your emotions, because of the gut-brain axis in this network. Your gut-brain axis is central in stress management or a stress-sensitive condition like IBS. Your food choices are central in supporting your gut-brain axis for stress management and IBS.
Even when you are highly motivated, you may face some challenges putting food and lifestyle changes into place. Health and wellbeing coaching helps you to make the changes from unhelpful habits to helpful habits. We’ll work in partnership to set clear and realistic actions for you, focusing on your priorities.
At regular check in meetings we’ll review how your plan is going, to update or amend your next steps.
By learning to make the deep connections between what you eat and how you feel, you will become your own self coach for the future.
Nutritional therapy is not a quick fix option and it takes time to put food and lifestyle changes into place. I have created timeline options from six weeks to six months, so that you have the full opportunity to see your plan through.
If you’re thinking that nutritional therapy could help you, I’d love to hear from you. I understand that choosing a therapist is a big decision and I offer a free call, so that you can find out whether you feel that I’m the right therapist for you.
If our conversation inspires you to go ahead, then we can arrange the first session for your chosen timeline, either in person or online.
(I see clients in Bristol on Wednesdays, Cheltenham on Thursdays, Stroud on Fridays and online on Mondays and Tuesdays)
Online and/or telephone appointments are available.
