Jo Desborough, Autism and ADHD coach and consultant

Hello, I’m Jo. I have had the privilege of working with individuals from early secondary school through adulthood, including those who are autistic or have ADHD, and in many cases experience both. Whether diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or navigating the assessment process, I focus on understanding their unique situations and the broader context that brings them – and sometimes their supporters – to me. Together, we work to navigate barriers through advocacy, coaching, mediation, or consultancy.

My Philosophy

Through a variety of people-centred roles, advocacy, and networking experiences, I’ve learned that building strong, positive relationships is key to achieving meaningful outcomes. Connecting with individuals from diverse backgrounds, demographics, and experiences has been a constant thread in my career. My time as a midwife taught me the importance of creating trust quickly, even in emotionally charged or sensitive situations. Providing clear, compassionate support during pivotal moments has always been central to my work – and it’s a principle I bring to everything I do today. I’ve also had the opportunity to work across public, private, health, education, and charity sectors, where I’ve led projects that increase access to services and create positive change. This breadth of experience helps me connect with a wide range of communities and stakeholders.

As an autistic person myself, I understand the world can sometimes feel complex and overwhelming in ways others might not see. I also know how vital it is for clients to feel that their experiences, emotions, and voices truly matter. That’s why I take the time to listen deeply, explore possibilities, and create personalised strategies that align with each individual’s unique goals and needs.
