Josie McLellan (T)
Maybe you are facing a crisis in your life, maybe there is something you’ve been grappling with for a long time, or maybe you just have the feeling that something is wrong but you are not sure why. Whatever brings you, my therapy offers a warm and supportive space, where all parts of you are welcome. Therapy tends to work best if you can find a therapist who feels right to you, who you can connect with and build a relationship with.
There is no one-size-fits-all way of doing therapy: part of the process is working together to find out what works best for you. We might talk about what’s going on in the present, explore your past, and talk about the future. Some people find it helpful to work with the feelings, sensations and images that come up during a session. For other people, it’s really important to explore how their experience has been shaped by systems and identities like gender, sexuality, race and ethnicity, class, disability, size, neurodivergence and more. My aim is to help you build a fuller understanding of what it means to be you, in all your potential.
I offer a free initial thirty-minute session, so that we can meet and explore if I am the right fit for you. After that, I charge £40 per one-hour session.
I am a UKCP trainee therapist and a senior trainee in Core Process Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute Bristol. This is a four-year training which brings together Buddhist and Western psychology and mindfulness to try to understand the whole person. My work is based on the belief that we all have an inner core of wellness and health that therapy can help us connect with.
I have experience supporting people who have experienced bereavement, trauma, rape and sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, and feeling stuck. I have worked for over 20 years in a professional environment, so also have a lot of experience dealing with issues around stress, work-life balance, and career change. Whatever brings you to therapy, I look forward to exploring it with you.
