Dr Louise Davey, Counselling Psychologist (HCPC registered, BPS chartered)

With over 10 years’ experience as a therapist and supervisor in the NHS and in private practice, I draw upon my training in EMDR, relational psychodynamic counselling and CBT to meet the person who comes to speak with me. Together we explore what has prompted them to seek therapy at this time and agree a way of working to respond to this. The therapy may be brief and very focused, perhaps where a traumatic experience is causing symptoms such as sleep difficulties, overwhelming feelings, relationship difficulties, and avoidance of people or places. At other times, the reason for seeking therapy may feel less clear and sessions will be a space to explore, be heard, wonder and reflect over a longer period of time. As a counselling psychologist I also draw upon wider psychological research and ideas, often integrating a range of different therapeutic approaches. I have particular experience of working with post-traumatic stress, the impact of sexual abuse and appearance-related distress. Therapy is a deeply personal process which means that it is important to find a therapist who you feel able to work with. For this reason, we would meet for an initial session to discuss what you are looking for from therapy and to think about how we might work together before agreeing regular meetings.

Online and/or telephone appointments are available.
