Pedro Garcia
About me
Hola and welcome! My name is Pedro, and I’m here to support your journey towards emotional well-being and personal growth. Whether you are looking for emotional relief or a deeper understanding of yourself, we can explore new paths for healing and growth together.
- Embracing opennes: My approach to therapy
In my practice, I emphasise a relational approach, focusing on the human connection between us. Each session is intended to meet you where you are in your life’s journey, helping you to gain the tools and confidence to grow.
My approach is sensitive to trauma, which means I’m careful to handle any past hurts without causing further distress. We’ll work together to understand how these experiences affect you today and explore ways to move forward with clarity, resilience, and confidence.
I believe deeply in the connection between mind and body, a principle that is central to my counseling practice. Drawing from the insights of Bessel van der Kolk, as well as the work of Gabor Maté and Stephen Porges, I integrate somatic exercises into our sessions. These practices are especially beneficial for managing anxiety and overwhelming feelings, helping to ground and reconnect you with your physical presence.
In our sessions, you will always feel supported and safe as we navigate your thoughts and emotions at a pace that feels right for you.
I also offer multilingual counselling in both English and Spanish, creating a welcoming space for diverse backgrounds
Training, qualifications & experience
- Compassionate Counselling with a Focus on Diversity
I’m a qualified counsellor trained in the Person-Centred Approach and proudly accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This ensures I meet high standards in my practice, all while keeping things real and relatable for my clients.
Beyond my core qualifications, I’m also part of the Creative Counsellors network. Here, we mix creativity into therapy, bringing fresh perspectives to traditional methods.
I’m committed to ongoing professional growth and have taken several specialised courses to better support my clients:
- Working with Neurodivergent Clients: I recognise that neurodivergence, including ADHD and other cognitive differences, shapes the way individuals experience the world. My approach is informed by neuroaffirmative practices, creating a space where clients feel understood, valued, and supported in navigating challenges related to sensory sensitivities, emotional regulation, and communication differences.
- Working with LGBTQIA+ Clients: I’ve focused on deepening my understanding and support for LGBTQIA+ clients, tuning into the specific challenges, and celebrating the diverse experiences within this community.
- Complex Trauma: I have specific training in tackling complex trauma, where I aim to help people find relief and regain control over their lives.
- Anti-Oppressive Care: My practice is built on principles that reject oppression and embrace diversity, actively addressing and dismantling systemic barriers.
- Working with Shame: I help people work through feelings of shame, which can be really tough but also transformative.
Throughout my career, I have been deeply committed to supporting diverse communities. I have collaborated closely with charities helping families affected by child sexual abuse and have provided tailored support to migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, helping them to navigate the complexities of their circumstances and build resilience.
Struggles I commonly work with are stress, sexual problems, anxiety, depression, social stigma, relational issues, abuse, low self-esteem, panic attacks, intercultural difficulties, and LGBTQAI+ issues and challenges related to ADHD and neurodivergence.
With a multicultural and creative approach informed by my background in Fine Arts, I incorporate fresh perspectives into therapy, connecting individual journeys with broader narratives of strength.
