Why you might be here
There are many reasons that people seek therapy. Sometimes we need help to process a significant event, like a relationship breakdown, bereavement or something traumatic. Other times we just feel directionless, stuck in repetitive cycles with a sense of disconnection or that something is wrong, but without the words to make sense of it. Sometimes we experience compulsive behaviour or addiction as a way to cope with these feelings. We can find ourselves experiencing issues in our relationships, work or with our romantic and sexual partners. We might simply just be curious about getting to know ourselves on a deeper level. There are no wrong reasons for us to begin working together, and wherever you are I want to meet you with warmth, empathy and authenticity. Together, we can start to build a picture of your experiences in a way that makes sense to you.
My approach
I offer a place where you can be deeply listened to and supported to tune into your experience while in safe contained space. I often work at a body level, which means that we will be guided by the sensations or feelings that might be arising (or not) in you in the moment. Our sessions would not involve touch. In our work, we might focus on the past or the here-and-now and even what is happening between us in the room. My approach is not to give advice, but to support you to get in touch with what is happening for you and you might need in the moment. I want to help you find your own authentic experience of the world and, in doing so, have space to explore new ways of being.
My training
I am a UKCP registered Trainee Psychotherapist in my final year of tutored study. I am completing a Masters in Integrative and Humanistic Psychotherapy at Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC). This eight year training is an extensive and experiential course that goes beyond the minimum years of study required to qualify as a Psychotherapist. My clinical work is supported by a UKCP and BCPC accredited Supervisor. I previously worked with The Swan Project in Montpelier which is a long-term low-cost service that specialises in addiction issues.
I have a particular interest and experience with sibling issues.
My present rate is £50 per session. My sessions are conducted in person in Stokes Croft.
