Sam De Gruchy
I work with clients to release troubling thoughts, memories or emotional blocks, to experience themselves with more compassion and clarity at the centre of their own lives
We are each of us relational beings, which can make life a joyful and loving experience, but also mean that many of our problems are experienced in relation to others, if not to ourselves. I place value on the relationship between the two of us as an opportunity for understanding, undoing and improving such difficulties – growing in trust and security in yourself and in relation to the world and others.
I experienced first hand the benefit of a skilled and empathic person who was dependably in my corner when I needed it most, something I remain incredibly grateful for to this day. It was this that initially drew me to therapy professionally, and kickstarted my belief and conviction in our reflexive ability as people to heal and grow.
Healing and self-discovery is very much a worthwhile process, one that I hold with trust and care as part of a therapeutic alliance between us. I create a respectful, honest and collaborative space to be met where you need to be met, wherever that might be at this moment.
I am an Integrative therapist and I work relationally from a person-centred base
One of the main benefits of Integrative therapy is flexibility and a dynamic approach integrating several modalities. It is rooted in our collective humanness, tailored to your personal experience. I support clients with a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, anger, depression, self-esteem, relationships, life direction, identity, existential and spiritual difficulties.
Therapy can be serious work for sure, but a healthy dose of humour can also go a long way and is very much welcomed too! I believe it is important we aim for your highest ideal with intention and dedication, whilst at the same time being patient, caring and compassionate with how things are for you right now – as well as where your difficulties may have originated.
Next steps
If are interested in beginning work together, I invite you to a free 20 minute video consultation as an opportunity to connect and explore your current difficulties and/or your intentions for therapy.
You might feel after our chat that this isn’t the right fit for you and that is absolutely ok. Likewise I will always be 100% transparent should I feel I am not best positioned to support you.
Once agreed, we will discuss options for arranging the first of weekly 50 minute sessions. These are open-ended (without contract for a specific amount of sessions).

I believe in this meaningful space, and I look forward to a collaborative process alongside you.
(I see clients both online and in-person in central Brighton at varying times throughout the week, with some limited availability in Hove on Thursdays).
Online and/or telephone appointments are available.
