You might look like you’re coping, even doing well on the outside, in fact, you are likely intelligent, capable and a high achiever. You’ve learned how to perform, adapt, and succeed in ways that others often rely on and yet, inside, there is often a persistent sense that you are not quite good enough, that no matter what you achieve, it doesn’t fully settle, something still feels slightly out of reach.
If this resonates, you are not alone. Many of the people I work with are high-functioning individuals living under sustained internal pressure, managing demanding roles, leadership responsibilities, or complex lives while privately experiencing anxiety, self-doubt, or emotional exhaustion.
For some, this presents as anxiety: a mind that does not switch off, always anticipating, analysing, or preparing, for others, it becomes depression: withdrawal, flatness, loss of motivation, or disconnection from meaning. Often, it is both. At the core is frequently shame- not about what you do, but about who you believe you are, a sense of being not enough beneath the surface.
To manage this, many people rely on perfectionism, overworking, people-pleasing, or emotional control. These are not flaws, but intelligent adaptations formed early in life, often within relationships where emotional safety or approval felt conditional, over time, this can shape how you relate to others. When worth becomes tied to performance, connection can feel based on usefulness rather than being seen, even in close relationships, something essential can feel missing.
I also work with couples experiencing these dynamics, where emotional distance, over-functioning, or misattunement creates disconnection beneath the surface of the relationship.
Before my full-time therapeutic practice, I worked in Delivery Assurance and PMO roles across large-scale transformation and business change programmes, supporting senior leaders and executive teams in high-pressure, complex environments. I am also the Author of three E-books & Self Help videos for those suffering with Anxiety, Depression and Not Feeling Good Enough.
My work is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing on Emotional Therapeutic Counselling, Jungian-informed thinking, Inner Child work, NLP, attachment-focused EMDR, and somatic release work. We work at depth- with personal history, emotional wounds, and the survival strategies that still shape present experience. This is not analysis for its own sake, it is about change at the level where patterns are formed.
Over time, clients often experience less internal pressure, greater emotional clarity, and a more stable sense of self. The internal critic softens. There is more space for rest, presence, and connection. This work is not about becoming someone else. It is about no longer needing to earn your sense of worth. If this speaks to you, therapy can be a place to begin that shift, from the inside out.
