Skye Blyth-Whitelock
I’m an integrative counsellor, registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and community grief tender, with over 10 years’ experience in managing mental health service provision, offering one-to-one counselling and facilitating groups.
My approach is to be alongside you with care, warmth and understanding, so that you don’t have to navigate things alone. I take a whole person, holistic approach that affirms and welcomes all of you – your identities, experiences, thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations. As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you in the moment.
I specialise in working with trauma, abuse, grief, neurodiversity and LGBTQIA+ people.
I work relationally, which means the relationship we build together is an important part of the therapy. Feeling safe, respected and understood is essential to the work we do together.
I take an intersectional, anti-oppressive stance in my work that is affirming, compassionate and liberatory. We can explore together how to face exclusion and injustice in a way that feels empowering for you, whilst celebrating the strengths and joys that your identity brings.
I am currently completing an Advanced Certificate in Trauma Therapy. In addition to private practice, I work part-time as a Trauma Stabilisation Worker in a residential setting for women who have experienced violence and trauma throughout their lives. I also hold community grief tending spaces both online for genderqueer / gender non-conforming people and in person in Brighton for anyone who is grieving.
I see clients online and in person in Brighton, both here at The Practice Rooms, and outdoors, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. I operate a sliding scale of £60 – £90 and ask clients to pay what they can afford. If you think we might work well together, please do get in touch.
