Thad Hickman
You may be looking for therapy because something in your life feels difficult to make sense of. Perhaps you feel anxious, low, stuck, or caught in familiar patterns in your relationships. You may be outwardly managing, while privately feeling uncertain, self-critical or overwhelmed.
I am a UKCP registered integrative psychotherapist offering psychotherapy and counselling for adults in central Brighton and in Hove. I work with issues including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, men’s issues and life transitions.
How I work
My approach is relational and integrative. This means I am interested in you as a whole person: your present difficulties, your relationships, your emotional life, and the experiences that may have shaped how you feel about yourself and others.
Therapy can offer a confidential space to slow things down, speak more freely, and begin to understand patterns that may otherwise feel confusing, painful or hard to change.
My aim is to offer a thoughtful, steady and collaborative therapeutic relationship, where difficult feelings and experiences can be explored safely and at depth. Over time, therapy can help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, make sense of your relationships, and find new ways of responding to life’s difficulties.
Training and qualifications
I trained at The Minster Centre, completing an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling. I am registered with the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and am also a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
My training was integrative, drawing on psychodynamic, humanistic and relational approaches to therapy.
Sessions
I offer in-person psychotherapy in central Brighton and also in Hove. Sessions are usually weekly and last 50 minutes.
