Ute Kanngiesser
Attachment-Based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist (MBACP)
I work with adults (18+) and have a special focus on attachment difficulties and trauma.
My aim is to create a therapeutic relationship that feels secure and facilitates the exploration of deeper rooted issues that may interfere with living a more fulfilled and connected life in the present – whatever the individual circumstances and histories.
I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and a wide range of mental health issues, including:
– anxiety and depression
– difficulties with relationships and sexuality
– significant life changes, losses, bereavements, separations
– questions of identity and belonging
– chronic illness
– burn-out
– low self-esteem
– neurodiversity
– self-harm and suicidal ideation
– histories of trauma, abuse, and neglect
– impacts of discrimination and oppression
– questions around parenting
– questions around creativity
As registered psychotherapist (MBACP) I adhere to the professional standards and code of ethics of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I attend weekly clinical supervision to support me with my client work, and continue to be in personal psychotherapy myself.
I have studied Attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (UKCP accredited) at The Bowlby Center, Psychodynamic Counselling (CertHE) at Birkbeck University, and have an MA in Culture and Communication Studies from New York University, New York.
