Somatic therapy is a body-centred approach to healing that recognises the deep connection between the mind and body. Unlike traditional talk therapies that focus primarily on thoughts and emotions, somatics works with the physical sensations, postures, and movements that hold the imprints of our life experiences. The word “somatic” comes from the Greek soma, meaning body — and at the heart of this approach is the understanding that our bodies carry the stories our words sometimes cannot tell.

Rooted in neuroscience and trauma research, somatic therapy helps individuals tune into bodily signals — tension, breath, stillness, or movement — as a pathway to healing. It is particularly effective for those navigating trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, or a sense of feeling disconnected from themselves. Rather than simply talking about an experience, somatic work invites you to explore what arises within the body as you do. This gentle, mindful process supports the nervous system in finding greater regulation, resilience, and ease — helping you feel more at home in yourself, and more fully present in your life.
