I am a warm and compassionate Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). I offer person-centred one-to-one therapy for adults with anxiety disorders or depression using a predominantly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach.
I can meet face to face at The Practice Rooms in central Exeter or online via video call. My priority is creating a safe and non-judgemental space to help people feel comfortable sharing their concerns and for people to feel heard and supported. I work collaboratively with individuals to develop a shared understanding of the factors that may have contributed to their challenges and any patterns that may be hindering them moving forward. We work together to navigate through difficulties, seeking to ease distress and build a path forward to live more in line with their hopes and values.
I have worked in mental health services within the NHS for over 10 years. My main approach is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and I incorporate ideas from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) and Narrative Therapy where these may be helpful. I am bound by the British Psychological Society (BPS) Code of Ethics and Conduct and the HCPC Standards of conduct, performance and ethics. I use evidence based interventions. I am able to support with: Generalised anxiety and worry (GAD) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Phobias, Panic, Low mood and depression, Insomnia, Stress, Low self-esteem, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Health anxiety, Perfectionism Agoraphobia.
As a first step I offer a free 15 minute phone call to hear what you would hope to gain from therapy, whether I am able to offer the support you need and to check if therapy using a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) approach is likely to be helpful for you. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.
