For over 20 years I've been engaged in the healing arts both indoors in the therapy room and outside on the land. At The Practice Rooms, I am offering Craniosacral Therapy and a Meditation & Mindful Movement class for Women. Craniosacral Therapy is a restorative therapy for restoring health, balance and wellbeing. This sensitive approach to your body can rebalance stressed nervous systems, address digestive issues, support healing from injury and surgery, accompany you through menopause and other life transitions and reconnect you with your inner well-spring of vitality and calm. Sessions happen fully clothed and contact is made through gentle attuned touch which has no agenda or analysis so your body feels the freedom and safety to express what s/he needs moment by moment.
Meditation & Mindful Movement class for women draws on the wisdom of Craniosacral principles which understands that each person embodies 'inherent health' and given the right conditions the body will naturally orient towards health and wellbeing. Slow conscious movement enables your body to listen to how she needs to move moment by moment. Through this gentle process deeply held patterns of tension, stress, and trauma can start to soften and release. As this happens new levels of relaxation and dynamic balance can be found. Part of the class is guided with time for you to explore your own intuitive movement in an atmosphere of welcome, acceptance and safety. We complete the session with a period of sitting meditation.
I began offering mindfulness-based groups in 1998 and later trained as a mindfulness-based, contemplative psychotherapist at the Karuna Institute in Devon. I later trained as a Craniosacral Therapist having received many hours of cranial as a client. I turned to this holistic, embodied approach to explore the pre and perinatal patterning in my body that was limiting my ways of relating and how I lived my life, in order to live more fully and with greater meaning. And later in life, I received Cranial as part of my self-care as I healed from surgery.
My movement work is informed by Continuum, yoga, Authentic Movement and Earth-based wisdom.
Starting this month's Nature blog topic, Ally Stott explores the 'Wholearth Approach' which recognises that we are nature - we humans are of the same Body as the wider than human world, of plants, water, animals, trees, insects, sky, rock.
