ABOUT ME: I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, registered with the BACP.
As an integrative counsellor I draw from different therapeutic approaches including person-centred, CBT, existential, psychodynamic and transactional analysis. This means that my sessions are bespoke and built around what each client needs.
I offer online and phone sessions as well as face to face. I believe that everyone is unique and important. We all experience times when life is hard or confusing. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression or low mood. Perhaps you are having difficulty in your relationships. You may have gone through a past trauma or perhaps been diagnosed with a disability or illness and are worried about the future. Often it isn't possible to share difficult feelings with people in our lives and so therapy can provide a safe and supportive space, free of judgement, to express and work through uncomfortable thoughts or feelings.
The idea of therapy can feel daunting but it can also be transformational. I like to work with clients in a collaborative way, helping people gain more insight and self-awareness. We will talk about what you want to share and go at your own pace. I firmly believe people are often more resourceful than they think and so I will also spend time identifying your strengths and what is going well for you. I endeavour to meet every client with warmth, respect and kindness. I am caring, insightful and have a good sense of humour too.
QUALIFICATIONS • PG Dip (Distinction) in Counselling and Psychotherapy - Leeds Beckett University • Foundation Skills in Counselling - Hope Psychological Institute • Certificate in Therapeutic Skills and Studies - Metanoia Institute.
BACKGROUND I have a background in the arts and education, and have worked as an actor. I have worked in a variety of settings including: prisons, dementia care homes, schools, law firms, charities, business and corporate settings and local community groups.
PRACTICALITIES Sessions are £65 for 50 minutes. Therapy is all about the relationship between counsellor and client. It is therefore so important that you feel like you are committing to counselling with someone who is the right fit for you.
I offer a free introductory call to give you the chance to see if we get along and for me to get a chance to hear where you're at and what you might want to talk about in therapy. There is no obligation to continue to book a session after that.
