Whatever brings you to counselling, I aim to help you feel valued, heard and understood. I will help and support you to identify the challenges you are experiencing and empower you to discover ways to cope and move forward in meaningful ways. Reconnecting with your strengths and increasing your ability to trust in yourself. I value each person as a unique individual who brings with them all their own personal experiences in life. We will work together, to help you achieve what you want from the therapeutic process.
About Me:
I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I was awarded a professional Diploma in counselling and psychotherapy in 2016 after many years of working with children in nurseries and schools across Sheffield.
I was awarded a Diploma in supervision skills in 2020, from the Leeds Centre For Psychological Development, which allows me to provide clinical supervision to other clinicians in their work.
I have experience of delivering therapy in a mental health charity based in Sheffield over the past five years, latterly in the role of clinical coordinator managing a project across South Yorkshire assessing and delivering therapy to individuals experiencing eating disorders. During this time, I have managed and supervised a small staff team, alongside working for the National Health Service (NHS) Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Team (IAPT) for Southwest Yorkshire Partnership Trust for two years, working with clients presenting with anxiety and depression.
I am currently clinically supervising counsellors in training in Sheffield, alongside running my own private practice.
Please note, I work with young people 16+ and adults.
My Approach:
I am trained as an Integrative counsellor/psychotherapist. This means I can use approaches from different models of therapy and work in a flexible way to find the best fit for you and what suits your needs.
I see you as the expert in your own life and my aim is to facilitate and resource you to gain new perspectives and move forward from the difficulties you are experiencing.
Exploring and reflecting in our sessions together to gain understanding about what lead to your presenting issues. I believe 'knowledge is power' and when we start to understand what led to a certain way of being, then we have the power to change it and moveforward. I will share tools and ideas that will help you do this. I draw on approaches from the following models: Person Centred, Humanistic, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solution focused and motivational interviewing.
