I offer psychological therapy to adults for a range of mental health difficulties such as depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as more entrenched difficulties that might arise from the impact of childhood trauma, such as difficulties in functioning and difficulties in relationships. When I start to work with a client, we will complete an initial assessment for me to gain a greater understanding of them as a person and the difficulties they are experiencing. From this, we will develop a formulation (an understanding of where your difficulties have come from, why they have come about now and any factors that might keep the problem going, as well as the positive aspects of your life). This formulation guides the therapeutic approach that I will use, and I use evidence-based psychological therapies such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR). For more entrenched difficulties, I often use a schema-focused approach. I am registered with all of the major health insurance companies to provide psychological therapy and I also accept referrals from local authorities and individuals who wish to self-refer.
