Hello…
I am an experienced and accredited integrative counselling therapist.
An open, curious approach is central to my practice and I aim to create a calm and containing space within which we can explore whatever you need to bring. I am committed to working with you and at a pace that is sensitive to your needs.
A background in the creative arts and personal development supports my focus and belief in the process of therapy; of feeling listened to, valued and accepted within a trusting relationship, able to embrace challenge and contain the unbearable through the process of change. I will listen in a way that neither judges you, nor tells you what to do.
As well as experience counselling adults for the mental health charity Bristol Mind and at Bristol University, I have worked relationally with adults and young people for many years - as an Art and PSHE Ed. teacher (secondary and post16), trainer/coordinator (for volunteers working on Mindline and Trans+ helplines)and more recently as an Associate Lecturer on the Certificate in Counselling Skills at UWE. I welcome clients bringing a range of issues around relationships, anxiety and depression, trauma and self-harm, grief and loss.
How I work
The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my practice alongside the essential values of empathy, acceptance and genuineness. My work is trauma-informed and I integrate additional theoretical approaches, such as Psychodynamic, Gestalt and elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS), to support you in your process as our work together progresses. As such, I can offer you ways of working which are creative and explorative.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists MBACP (Accred), which is the professional organisation that supports my commitment to ethical practice and in providing a safe and confidential space for you.
