I offer both short and long term counselling via face-to-face, online and walk & talk sessions, for adults and young people. I have particular experience working with people affected by a loved one's substance misuse. Alcohol and drug use / addiction can leave loved ones feeling helpless, isolated and in a world of chaos. I aim to provide you with safe space to explore your concerns, free from judgements, in order to step off the rollercoaster ride of living with your loved one's behaviours, and lead a more fulfilling life.
I have experience of supporting children and young people with educational transitions and difficulties (school, college and university), relationship difficulties (friends, family, peers, romantic, sexual etc), self-harm, suicide ideation, bullying and self-esteem. Other difficulties I can offer counselling with are: anxiety, depression, trauma, neuro-diversities, abuse (emotional, financial, sexual, physical, domestic), addiction, family dynamics, parenting, work related issues, loneliness, co-dependence, PTSD, and OCD. Many issues people experience have other underlying difficulties or co-exist with others, so it is not easy to explain what or who I work with. What I would say, above all, is to find a counsellor (myself or otherwise) that you feel you can trust and feel as comfortable as you can with, in order to build a safe therapeutic relationship together.
I offer a free 15 minute session so that you can meet me and experience a little of how I work. In my work I aim to tailor my sessions to suits your needs and can integrate different elements of my training and experience to provide you with counselling sessions unique to you. This can include the use of art, music, handouts, and strategies that support you. I believe that lived experience is also beneficial when counselling - I myself, or others that I know, have given me a wealth of experience to draw upon from difficult situations so that I can gain a deeper level of understanding.
I am a qualified counsellor in a humanistic integrative approach, with additional training for working with children and young people. I have also had additional training/experience in group work, autism, trauma, working online, panic attacks, miscarriage, suicide, self harm, addiction, family systems, psychodynamic counselling, and CBT. I am a registered member of the BACP and work within their ethical framework. I have experience of working with children, adolescents, young people and adults, both as individuals and in groups. Please do enquire if you would like further information or would like to arrange a free 15 min session with me.
