My approach and tools
I offer an alternative approach to therapy. My therapy room is a safe space for self-discovery through creative and free expression tasks, such as art, free writing, play or reading literature. However sometimes, my clients do just need to talk and quickly appreciate being listened to and thought about.
Psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theories are the foundations that support my thinking and practice. Educational Psychotherapy (EPT) is a niche technique that allows the therapist to have insight into the client's internal world through various tasks and work with the barriers that are hindering learning and development. EPT goes at the pace of the client which means it can sometimes take a while, but the work is in depth and often transformative.
I also sometimes include some meditation and breathing techniques if I feel that it would be useful to the client.
Who would benefit from EPT?
EPT really can be beneficial for all, afterall, when do we ever stop learning and developing? EPT is ideal for clients whose behaviour, learning, or emotions seem stuck in a cycle or spiral. EPT is also ideal for anyone who is not comfortable with direct talking or doesn't feel able to talk.
Other issues that EPT can help with include: identity, self-worth, shame, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, suppressed anger, understanding anger, grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties, relationship with self, relationship with ones own body, relationship with food.. and many more.
My qualifications and background
I completed my training at The Caspari Foundation in 2018 and qualified as an Educational Psychotherapist in 2019.
I have worked in a variety of education settings since 2008, including abroad in an international school. My background is teaching young people with additional needs hence my special interest in working with students and using creative tasks.
Currently I am working at Leytonstone Secondary School, the Royal Academy of Music and also seeing clients in private practice both online and in person. Typically my clients are students aged 11-30yrs old, however I am also trained to work with younger children.
My offer and our agreement
In-person £65
Online £50
I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation online. It is here that clients can ask questions and gain a sense of who I am before deciding if they would like to embark on their therapeutic journey with me.
Once we have an agreement to begin therapy, clients will need to give a minimum of one weeks notice for any booked holidays. Clients will not be charged for holidays booked in advance, nor will clients be expected to pay for any sessions cancelled by me. All other circumstances will still be charged to enable us to uphold the therapy space and agreement.
Clients can end at any time, however I do strongly recommend a managed and thoughtful ending. Endings are an important part of the therapy, which we will go through together.
In the future, I will also be running creative and therapeutic groups and workshops.
