Hello, I'm a psychotherapist-in-training at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC), and a trainee member of UKCP. I offer low-cost talking therapy for adults in Bristol, based at The Practice Rooms on Cotham Hill BS6. Therapy is in-person and for individuals only. Short and long term. I have particular experience working with anxiety, depression, bereavement, pregnancy loss, all sorts of change, and addiction. I charge £30 for a 50-minute session.
Why come for therapy?
We all go through difficult times. It can help to talk confidentially with someone who is not involved in your day-to-day life. You may be feeling lost and unfulfilled, perhaps you're struggling with a low mood or loneliness, or finding it hard to pinpoint why you're angry and confused. You might find you're unable to articulate just what it is you are feeling, but you know that something is wrong.
Some people come for talking therapy following a distressing event such as a bereavement or separation, or to get them through a stressful time at work. Other times it's not so obvious where the difficulty lies and you need time to get to the root of things. You may just feel inquisitive about your life and relationships, and like the idea of getting to know yourself better. Whatever you want to explore, I give you the time and space to do so in a warm and supportive environment.
My approach and training:
My training is humanistic and integrative, that is to say I'm informed by the empathic, person-centred therapy first developed by Carl Rogers, as well as developmental theories, such as attachment theory, and psychoanalytic theories relating to how we are shaped by our childhood and past events.
Alongside my private practice, I work as a trained bereavement support volunteer with CRUSE (www.cruse.org.uk), and as a counsellor at The Swan Project in Bristol (www.theswanproject.co.uk), working long-term with people who are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.
I adhere to the UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice and the BCPC Code of Practice.
