Hello, I'm Dr Georgina Chan and a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience as a medical doctor. I'm passionate about helping people with ADHD, of any age. I have a lot of psychotherapy experience, especially with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic psychotherapy and family therapy.
As a consultant psychiatrist, I've seen lots of children and adolescents for ADHD and autism (NHS and private). I continue private work in this field but at places from The Practice Rooms.
At The Practice Rooms, I work with both children and adults, offering:
- ADHD coaching and/or CBT, as well as
- CBT and integrative psychotherapy for a range of difficulties (e.g. low mood, anxiety, low self-esteem, anger management and interpersonal difficulties.
A bit about myself:
- I graduated from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry. I completed all my psychiatry training at South West London and St George's Mental Health Trust.
- Before being a psychiatrist, I gained a lot of experience in numerous other fields all across London, meeting so many people from all walks of life.
- In the NHS, I've worked in accident and emergency medicine, respiratory medicine, old age medicine, histopathology and public health.
- In the private sector for corporate clients, I've worked as a nutritionist and lifestyle coach, integrating advice about nutrition, physical activity, sleep and mental health to optimise functional well-being.
- I’m a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Royal Society of Public Health, British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Therapies and the Association for Nutrition.
- I have a BSc in Anatomy & Developmental Biology and an MSc in Clinical & Public Health Nutrition, both from University College London. I also have a Diploma from the Royal College of Pathologists, a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Oxford University and a Diploma in Music Performance from The Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music.
Working with me:
- In the initial couple of sessions, I will work collaboratively with a child and their family, or an adult, to try and start to understand your headspace and difficulties, to establish a safe, trusting and non-judgmental relationship and identify appropriate goals to work on.
- The aim is to make life more manageable, easier and brighter.
Please do get in touch if you think I can help.
