I am a registered practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). I trained as a Counselling Psychologist at the University of Roehampton and have experience working in a variety of settings including mental health charities, community counselling, and primary care. I have worked with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationship difficulties, work related issues, and other such difficulties. We all encounter difficult times in life. The loss of loved ones, relationship breakdown, difficulties at work, and poor physical health, for example, may have a huge impact on our ability to function. We may feel anxious or depressed and find it difficult to know what to do to feel better. At these times counselling may be beneficial. I believe that one of the most important aspects of counselling is the relationship that develops between therapist and client, and I offer a safe and non-judgemental space to work together to explore the issues that are important to you. I offer individual counselling and work integratively, drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural models. I have also trained in compassion focused therapy and find this a helpful approach for working with our inner critic and feelings of low self-esteem. I have a particular interest in bereavement and experiences of loss, including the breakdown of relationships. I offer a free 15-20 minute initial telephone conversation. This provides the opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling at this time and gives you a sense of the way that I work. This can help in deciding whether to go ahead with regular sessions together. If you would like to arrange an initial phone call, please email me at helenanundycounselling@gmail.com or call on 07905121266. |
