If you are thinking about therapy, it can be difficult to take the first step. I am a compassionate listener, with experience extending over more than twenty years. Many people experience anxiety and/or depression at some point in their lives. Usually, there are factors and events over a period of time which have contributed to the way the person is feeling. We explore themes and patterns in sessions, identifying triggers for feelings and responses which may seem hard to understand.
I am a psychodynamic practitioner, working with both individuals and couples. I focus on working with clients to discover what is beneath the surface of complex feelings and situations, as well as looking to the future the client wishes to create. People reflect further about insights gained between sessions, leading to change over a period of time.
The first step is to come for an initial session. This is an opportunity for you to tell your story, and to hear and experience something of my way of working. Following this, we agree together what type of therapy is best suited to you - brief therapy or more open-ended. We also talk about the most convenient times for your sessions.
