I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and have worked in the NHS for most of my career. I have been practicing as a clinical psychologist for 23 years working with adults and older adults with mental health problems. In the last 10 years, I have also worked as a manager and clinician and latterly as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist leading psychological therapy services in a local mental health Trust. I now work part-time in the NHS as Lead Psychologist for a staff well-being service and I also work in independent practice.
I am experienced in working with people with a range of mental health difficulties such as:
I work collaboratively with clients using a range of evidence-based therapies such as compassion focused therapy, psychodynamic models, and cognitive behavioural therapy. I am also an accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapist and supervisor.
I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC nos: 03506), British Psychological Society (BPS), and the Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) where I am required to maintain regular supervision and training standards.
When I meet with clients my approach is to work alongside them to reach an understanding of their difficulties so we can agree on a set of goals for therapy. This may involve looking back at past relationships and recognising patterns of thinking and behaviours that have contributed to the present difficulties.
