I realise that for some people seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, and offer a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space in which you can begin to open up about your life and start to explore what may be going on for you, both at a conscious and unconscious level.
Sometimes in life we can find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, aware of things which we want to change, yet caught in patterns of repetition and bouts of shame, frustration or self-loathing. You may have a clear sense of what causes you pain, such as relationship issues, bereavement, work-related stress, difficult or traumatic experiences in childhood or adult life. Or perhaps you don’t know why you feel unfulfilled or low, but find yourself avoiding intimacy, bingeing, restricting food intake, overworking, or engaging in patterns of addiction.
My practice is built around providing you with a safe and containing space to be listened to carefully and without judgement. If you choose to work with me, we can explore your experiences so that you can feel understood and gain understanding of yourself and others. Psychodynamic therapy usually involves working together over longer periods of time, building a strong therapeutic relationship so that we can carefully explore how your experiences impact upon your unconscious thought processes. I therefore generally offer open ended therapy, though I am also able to offer brief, time-limited therapy to address a current situation.
