Hi, I'm Kat and I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor, which means I can draw on different approaches depending on your needs.
The person-centred approach focuses on the here and now, believing that you are the expert on yourself and focusing on empathic listening and being with you as you explore yourself more deeply. Where it feels appropriate, we may also look at past experiences and how these may have shaped you and may be impacting you in the present.
I believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is a very important aspect of the therapeutic experience and so building a trusting therapeutic relationship is part of the process. I offer both long and short-term counselling, working at your pace to offer a safe space in which you can explore what is troubling you.
I have previous experience working one to one with adult clients experiencing a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, grief, lack of confidence, childhood trauma, autism and gender identity issues. I also have experience in different roles working in the NHS and local authorities helping people with complex mental health, physical health and substance use issues.
I offer a free 30 minute initial meeting, which can help us decide whether my skills can suit your needs and also allows you to decide whether you will feel comfortable working with me.
Please get in touch to find out more about availability and to book an initial session.
