I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist and counsellor offering a compassionate, relaxed and confidential space to explore current and past issues which may be impacting your life. I additionally hold a PhD in Psychology and have spent many years working across the NHS and private mental health services, as well as charitable organisations, bereavement services and the education sector. I have experience working with trauma, including complex trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, self-esteem issues, women's health, cancer support, bereavement, youth and adolescent development, and eating disorders.
I recognise that looking for a therapist can feel like an overwhelming process and that each person will be looking for different things from therapy. Maybe you have a specific issue you would like to address, or maybe you just need space to talk freely in a supportive and non-judgemental environment. As an integrative therapist I have been trained in a range of therapeutic approaches which means we can tailor our sessions to suit your needs and explore ways of moving forwards together, at a pace you feel comfortable with.
My practice is primarily informed by psychodynamic and humanistic approaches which means we might choose to look at issues presenting for you in the here-and-now, and also things you may have experienced in the past. Central to my practice is belief that the therapeutic relationship – our relationship – is integral in supporting an effective and positive experience of therapy. Clients have shared that they experience me as warm, open and personable; I seek to build a strong, trusting relationship where you can feel seen and heard, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the challenges you may be facing. I aim to work collaboratively and be mindful of our unique differences as human beings – how one person's lived experience might differ from the next – and the importance of remaining attuned to your personal circumstances and needs.
I work in a trauma-informed way which holds consideration for the potentially triggering effects of the therapeutic experience, and prioritise the physical, psychological and emotional safety of clients during the therapeutic process.
I offer brief counselling for shorter periods where you can gain practical skills and knowledge for particular issues, or longer-term psychotherapy to explore your experiences in more depth. I work with adults aged 16 years and over.
If you are interested in working with me, the first step is to send me an email, a text, or give me a call. We will then arrange a free, confidential 20-minute phone call so we can briefly discuss what brings you to therapy and any questions you may have. If this feels like a good fit and you are happy to proceed, we will agree on a time for an initial session. All sessions are 50 minutes duration and I typically work with clients on a weekly basis at a regular scheduled time. There is no obligation to book in for further sessions if this does not feel right for you.
