Shiatsu is a holistic physical therapy which uses a combination of pressure points, gentle manipulation and stretching to re-energise weak areas and reduce tension in the body.
Shiatsu can support the body’s innate self-healing abilities and promote a sense of relaxation and well-being. Originating in Japan, Shiatsu incorporates influences from both East Asian Medicine and Western medicine. Shiatsu touch offers stillness, depth and gentle compassion.
Shiatsu treatments are given with the client fully clothed, usually lying on a padded mat on the floor. A treatment will involve gentle holding, subtle movements, stretches, rotations and deeper pressure.
Liz has a background in physiotherapy, and has been a qualified Shiatsu practitioner since 2021. She trained at the Shiatsu College Hastings and is now a teaching assistant on the diploma course.
