Welcome
People come for counselling for many different reasons. They might not feel themselves, or they may feel stuck, or perhaps they are overwhelmed by feelings, relationships, events or other aspects of their lives.
Whatever brings us, counselling can help us to make sense of our lives. We can gain understanding into how we relate with others, we learn how the past informs the present and we may discover what we want and need. This insight can enable us to make positive choices and changes in life.
How I work
As a psychodynamic counsellor, I am curious about what makes you, you. As part of this, I would endeavour to help you explore how past experiences might be informing your present life and relationships. For example, you may have certain beliefs, habits or ways of relating that are no longer helpful and may lead to emotional pain (even self-sabotage). Understanding these and exploring why they might have come to be can bring about a significant shift in mood and self-worth.
Furthermore, knowing ourselves better often leads to greater self-compassion; something that can bring about fundamental change when it comes to our sense of self and quality of life.
A warm, empathic and genuine person, I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Having experienced the benefits of personal therapy myself, I know how transformative it can be to think, feel and be heard within a secure therapeutic relationship.
My qualifications and experience
I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor who trained with Gloucestershire Counselling Service (BPC accredited course). A Member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP), I abide by their ethical code. I work with adult clients and have experience of working with a range of issues, including but not exclusively: anxiety, depression, family dysfunction, trauma, intergenerational trauma, anger, loss, bereavement, sexual abuse, self-harm, suicidal ideation, low self-esteem, addiction, work stress, guilt, relationship difficulties and issues relating to difference and diversity.
Further information
Counselling is £50 for a 50-minute session (I may be able to offer a concession in certain circumstances).
Our first session would be an assessment session which is also £50.
I offer weekly in-person counselling on Mondays to Fridays (am and pm). Please note that I do not offer online or fortnightly sessions.
Making contact
Please email or call me if you would like to find out more. As it is important that you find the right counsellor for you, I offer an initial free 20-minute phone conversation. This is an opportunity for us to talk about what you are looking for and to get a sense of how we might work together. This is also a chance for you to ask me any questions about counselling and how I work.
Counselling is led by you, so you decide the duration of our work together. If you do start, you will be asked to sign a counselling agreement which outlines all the terms of our work (e.g. payment terms, holidays and missed sessions) and what you can expect from me.
I hope this information is helpful and that you find the counselling you need.
Complete the form below with your details and therapy requirements - Louise Bryan will then contact you to discuss making a booking....
