"The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created--created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination." --John SchaarÂ
In my past, I experienced serious mental illness as a consequence of a difficult childhood. Discovering that I could lead a stronger and more stable life than I ever thought possible led me to work in the mental health field and to obtain postgraduate training in Gestalt Psychotherapy. The Gestalt approach focuses on what we are experiencing in the present moment; what our body is telling us, as well as our thoughts, feelings and the meaning that we make of them. By gaining a clearer understanding of ourselves in this way, we can expand our sense of choice, and increase our ability to overcome patterns of behaviour and perception that are not serving us anymore. I would describe myself as a therapist who has warmth and creativity, and a very strong emotional motivation to be of benefit to my clients.
