Thai yoga Massage is a unique and powerful healing art that helps to prevent health problems such headaches, back pain, digestive disorders, shoulder and neck tightness, insomnia and other stress-related conditions.
It is a meditative form of body work, which aims to re-establish balance and awareness within the body's energy system, and the gentle release of unnecessary tensions that we hold in our bodies.
Thai Yoga Massage works with the whole body through a combination of techniques such acupressure and rhythmic compression, and follows a sequence of gentle body manipulations and assisted stretching. Within a session the body is gently compressed, stretched, rocked and deeply relaxed.
Thai Yoga massage can be tailored to benefit anyone regardless of age and flexibility.
The treatment is done fully clothed (comfortable yoga-type clothes) on a firm mat on the floor, usually for a minimum of an hour or 90 minutes.
Macarena's original training was in the field of Dance. She holds a degree in Dance and has lived, worked and danced in Chile, New York, Houston, Italy and Japan. Her many studies of Butoh (a dance form originating in Japan) brought her to live and learn in Japan at the Body Weather Farm, a dance project led by well-known dance creator, Min Tanaka.
The understanding that developed from Macarena's career as a dancer for more than twenty years led to a growing interest in applying her knowledge and experiences into a form of physical therapy.
She trained at the Mudita School in London in 2017, when she certified as a Thai yoga practitioner, followed by an advanced course on the Rocking and Rhythm Technique.
She continues her development as a dancer and therapist holding her own Dance Movement research and Body Manipulations development through several Body Weather workshops attended in Europe. She has also recently completed the 8 week MBCT mindfulness course at the Oxford Mindfulness Center.
