What is therapy?
Big question. It’s not a chat. Although it can be fun. Sometimes you might look forward to it. Other weeks you may feel more like hiding. That’s ok. Bring your hiding too.
Therapeutic space offers something that doesn’t happen easily in most of our lives. A place to pause, examine, feel into, wonder, wander, acknowledge, confront, accept, challenge.
Many different things might have brought you to consider this work. It may be a dissatisfaction with the way things are, a sense of unease, it may be feelings of depression or anxiety or an unnameable crisis. It may be something more specific, a relationship ending, the death of someone, illness, depression, or addiction. Or it may be a yearning to want to know yourself a little better, with more kindness, more ease.
Perhaps you suspect you are even more wonderful than you have ever dared to believe. I agree, I think you are too.
Whatever is bringing you here, is welcomed.
Sometimes we will be with stuckness or a hopelessness. Sometimes we will celebrate what feels more possible or what has changed. We will notice shifts, new choices can emerge, new ways of being.
Each week will be different. Because each moment is.
Our sessions last an hour and are weekly. During that time we do whatever needs to be done to bring awareness to what is happening. We go at your pace and I will be alongside you to enable you to feel safe with whatever unfolds and shows up.
Our work together will be informed by my training as a UKCP accredited Core Process Psychotherapist, a form of psychotherapy which blends Buddhist and Western traditions. (And no, you don’t have to be a Buddhist).
I meet clients in person in my therapy spaces in Norwich and Amsterdam as well as online. So our work together will be a mixture of in-person and online depending on where you are based.
I’m here when you’re ready and I have availability. If it’s not yet for you, that’s fine. Something in you has been curious enough to read on and get to know what all this is about. And that’s a pretty marvellous start. I’m already excited for you.
If you decide you’d like us to work together, I’m at michaelrussoff@gmail.com. I’ll endeavour to respond quickly and we’ll arrange a meeting without fee to see if it feels right for both of us to work together.
