During my nursing career, I became interested in the Eastern Healing Arts, becoming a dedicated student of Tai Chi and meditation. This led me to discover Shiatsu, which I gained my diploma in 20 years ago. I then went on to qualify in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture in 2005.
Both Shiatsu and acupuncture work on the same principles – by gently encouraging energy within little streams within the body (called meridians) to flow more freely to help restore and maintain wellbeing. The only difference is that shiatsu is done whilst laying fully clothed on a futon on the floor, whilst acupuncture uses fine needles inserted at specific points along the meridians.
I love Shiatsu for its gentleness, grace and inner peace that both my client and myself can feel during the session. I love its rhythmic movements and subtle energy changes – it’s like a beautiful dance or listening to some inspiring music.
I feel honoured to be able to practice in the beautiful and peaceful environment offered at The Practice Rooms, as I feel it provides the perfect setting and conditions, supporting me and my clients on our journey towards optimum wellbeing.
