"Therapy is comforting, like a long, deep exhalation."
"I know now that I am not crazy! I can rely on my own feelings, and have stopped ignoring my instinct."
"This is the only place where I can express myself, without feeling judged."
I believe that counselling can help make this world a better place, and more manageable. And I believe that counselling can help bring about positive change in this respect, and would ideally be available to everyone, from an early age.
I am a qualified psychodynamic/integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, a registered member with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and practice part-time in Islington (London). I also have over twenty years' experience as a peacebuilder, working in an international context with communities affected by violent conflict and displacement, facilitating dialogue and reconciliation processes.
I have worked with people on a range of issues, including low self-esteem, working through separation or bereavement, dealing with anxiety, insomnia or low energy and lack of motivation, issues around (aspects of) identity, experience of (childhood) trauma, racism or other forms of discrimination and bullying, abusive relationships, concerns about parenting or trying to conceive, struggling with a diagnosis and self-disclosure, feelings of shame, a sense of uncertainty and fear about the future.
Sometimes people may come to therapy simply feeling a bit 'off' or 'lost', or 'stuck', not really knowing what they want or quite what to expect. I will work with you to help you identify your own priorities and therapeutic goals, and to slowly unveil underlying issues that may have caused you discomfort and held you back. I strive to provide a holding environment that is pressure-free, trying to see and appreciate you as you are, and working with you at your own pace.
I offer sessions for adults (18+) in English and in German, and can dip into Russian, if helpful. If you would like to explore how it may be working with me, please send me a message with your name, phone number and, if possible, a couple of sentences why you are interested in therapy; and we can arrange a free introductory call.
Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £70. I am happy to meet you in person, online or over the phone, whichever feels best to you.
